Taylor claims SEC FOW Award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt freshman Jeffery Taylor earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for his play against Alabama A&M last week in Nashville, in an announcement made by the SEC office on Monday. Taylor, from Norrkoping, Sweden, led the Commodores with 18 points in the 78-55 win over the Bulldogs on Dec. 10.

Taylor, who has started in every game this season, has scored in double figures in every Vanderbilt contest, and ranks second on the team in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg). In the SEC rankings, he is listed in the top 15 in five different categories – field goal percentage (4th, 52.9 percent), offensive rebounds (T-9th, 2.4 pg), free throw percentage (10th, 77.5 percent), scoring (14th, 13.8 ppg), and rebounding (14th, 6.3 rpg). He leads all SEC freshmen in field goal percentage for the year.

Taylor and the Commodores return to action Tuesday night in the SEC/Big East Invitational at the Sommet Center, where Vanderbilt will meet South Florida. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT.
