NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt returns home on Wednesday night to take on Alabama A&M at Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by CSS, and the game can be heard on the Vanderbilt-ISP Radio Network, with Joe Fisher and Tim Thompson on the call.

The Commodores are looking to end a two-game losing streak, their first in the month of December since the 2004-05 season when Oregon (65-75 in Portland) and Cincinnati (72-88 in Nashville) knocked off Vanderbilt on Dec. 4 and 9, respectively.

Georgia Tech defeated Vanderbilt in its last time out, 63-51, in Atlanta on Dec. 6, in the Commodores’ lowest scoring contest of the season. Vanderbilt shot 32.0 percent from the floor, and 12.5% percent from the 3-point arc, but had a one-point lead, 44-43, with under eight minutes to play. From that moment on, the Commodores made only one basket and were outscored, 19-8.

The statistic of the game was in the rebounding column, where the Yellow Jackets outrebounded Vanderbilt, 48-33, including 23-10 on the offensive glass. Georgia Tech scored 18 of its 63 points on second chance opportunities.

A.J. Ogilvy led all Vanderbilt scorers with 15 points. Freshman Jeffery Taylor extended his double-digit streak to eight games with an 11-point performance. Both Ogilvy and Taylor led the team in rebounding with seven apiece.

Ogilvy leads the Commodores in scoring at 15.1 points per game, with freshmen Jeffery Taylor (13.3) and Brad Tinsley (11.9) next in scoring. Jermaine Beal also adds 10.0 points per contest.

The Commodores are only allowing opponents to shoot 37.2 percent on the year, and only two opponents (VCU, UIC) have shot higher than 40 percent in a game. Vanderbilt has only allowed one opponent, UIC on Dec. 3, to score 70 points or more (74).

The Commodores and Bulldogs will meet for the fifth time on Wednesday, with Vanderbilt leading the all-time series, 4-0. All meetings have been played at Memorial Gym.

Alabama A&M is 1-3 entering the game after defeating Tuskegee on Dec. 6, 80-73, at home. Trant Simpson leads the Bulldogs at 17.5 points per game, and Cornelius Hester chips in 11.8 points per contest.
