JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. and ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The 12th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team hits the road this weekend for a pair of games away from Memorial Gymnasium.

Vanderbilt plays at East Tennessee State on Friday before heading to Michigan for a Sunday tilt. Both games promise to be intense road contests for a veteran Commodore squad.

“We need to play in environments that are going to make us better,” VU Head Coach Melanie Balcomb said. “I think the Michigan and East Tennessee games will be difficult, but overall these away games will prepare us for those tough SEC road games.”

Vanderbilt’s first stop will be a game at ETSU on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. ET. The Lady Bucs are looking to “Pack the House” on Friday night in their home opener, with promotions — including a chance to win a new truck — enticing fans to fill ETSU’s Memorial Center to the rafters.

For the Commodores, Balcomb will be in search of her 150th victory at Vanderbilt. Currently in her seventh season in the Music City, Balcomb has won nearly 75 percent of the 201 games she has coached at Vanderbilt.

The 3-0 Commodores have dispatched Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Western Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky by an average margin of over 31 points.

Following Friday night’s game, Vanderbilt will head north to face the University of Michigan in a nationally televised game. Broadcast by the Big Ten Network, the contest is set to tip-off at noon ET (11 a.m. CT).

Vanderbilt will be the second highly ranked opponent to visit Michigan’s Crisler Arena this week, as the Wolverines play host to the Texas A&M Aggies on Thursday evening.

Michigan has already notched one win over a Southeastern Conference opponent, winning at Kentucky, 70-60, on Nov. 15. The Commodores will look to even the score for the league on Sunday.
