Oct. 2, 2008

ATLANTA – Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team will compete in its second tournament of the season this weekend when the Commodores make the drive to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational.

The Georgia Tech Invitational is the second-consecutive tournament the Commodores have played in Georgia. Vanderbilt opened its season Sept. 19-22 at the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens.

“The Southern Intercollegiates showed us where we were as a team at the start of a new season,” head coach Ian Duvenhage said. “It also showed us where improvements were needed, and I’d like to see what progress we have made this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational.”

The Commodores also competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational last season. Vijay Paul and Nick Cromydas advanced to the quarterfinals of the “A” draw, while Alex Zotov advanced to the semifinals of the “B” draw.
