USTFCCCA releases XC rankings

Sept. 15, 2008

USTFCCCA rankings | SEC Poll | | Commodore Classic | Percy Warner Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The USTFCCCA released its preseason cross country rankings today. The Vanderbilt women enter the Regional poll at No. 4 in the South, while the men are No. 12.

“It’s nice to get the recognition,” Steve Keith, head coach, said, “and I’m sure the women will take a lot of pride in this early season ranking. Our goal, however, is to finish the season at an even higher ranking so there is still plenty of work ahead.”

The Commodores kicked off the 2008 season with the Belmont-VU opener on Sept. 5., at Percy Warner Park, their home course. The women placed first in the competition, and the men third.

The SEC released its coaches’ poll following conference events that same weekend. The coaches picked Vanderbilt to finish sixth in the conference, and the men at No. 11.

The Commodores return to the course for the Commodore Classic this Saturday at Percy Warner. The men run at 9 a.m., followed by the women at 10 a.m.
