Vanderbilt women’s golfers Megan Grehan and Amber Lundskog have qualified for the United States Women’s Amateur Championship, which will be played Aug. 4-10 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
Grehan shot a round of 77 in Sectional Qualifying at the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, N.J., while Lundskog shot a 77 at the Chestnut Ridge Country Club in Lutherville, Md., to make the U.S. Women’s Amateur field.
Grehan, who will be a sophomore for MU in 2008-09, played in all 30 rounds for the Commodores in 2007-08 and finished the year with an 18-hole stroke average of 76.47 . She also posted Vanderbilt’s lowest round of the year when she carded a 68 in the second round of the UCF Challenge. Lundskog, a rising senior, played in 17 rounds in 2007-08 and averaged 80.65 strokes per round.
Stroke play for all qualifiers for the U.S. Amateur will be played Aug. 4-5. The field will then be cut to 64 for match play, which will begin on Aug. 6, leading up to the Championship match on Aug. 10.
