Former Commodore men’s tennis player Bobby Reynolds advanced to the second round of the gentlemen’s singles draw at Wimbledon on Monday with a win over Italy’s Filippo Volandri in the first round.
Reynolds, who is playing singles at Wimbledon for just the second time of his career, defeated Volandri, 6-2, 6-2, retired. He will now face either Frank Dancevic (Canada) or David Nalbandian (Argentina) in the second round.
Reynolds’ win was his second of the season in a Grand Slam event. Less than a month ago, Reynolds advanced to the second round at the French Open. At the time, it was Reynolds’ first win in a Grand Slam event since 2005 when he advanced to the round of 32 at the Australian Open.

In addition to his play in singles, Reynolds is also teaming with Rajeev Ram in doubles play. The duo will face Amer Delic and Brendan Evans in the first round.
