PARIS, France — Former Vanderbilt women’s tennis star Julie Ditty will be making her second career appearance at the French Open as she opens play early next week at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
Ditty will meet Nathalie Dechy in the opening round. Ditty, currently ranked No. 100 in the world, is making her second appearance at the French Open. She competed in the doubles draw in 2004, dropping a first round match. Ditty made her first singles appearance in a Grand Slam event earlier this year at the Australian Open, losing in the first round. If Ditty wins her opening round match, she could face No. 9 seed Marion Bartoli in the second round.
