Vanderbilt signee Brittni Hamilton is one of 16 stars that includes male and female amateurs and professionals competing in bowling’s “Clash of Champions” televised by CBS this Saturday and Sunday.

CBS will carry the unique competition Saturday from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. (CDT) and Sunday from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. (CDT).

The event will be the first bowling on broadcast network television since 1999. The spectacle will be the first set up to have a man and a woman meet in the final. Nelson Burton Jr., who for decades was a mainstay of ABC’s bowling coverage, is an analyst for this event. He calls it “the greatest promotion bowling has ever seen.”

CBS coverage includes computer-aided tracking systems to trace ball speed and rotations. Lynn Swann, former ABC Sports broadcaster and former football star, will serve as a lane-side reporter.

There will even be NFL cheerleaders (from the Kansas City Chiefs) and a “sudden-death” first-round format in which bowlers can be eliminated after a single roll.

Hamilton, of Webster, N.Y., is considered the best high school girl’s bowler in the United States and qualified by winning the 2007 USBC Youth Open championship. She has a deep and impressive competitive resume.

Hamilton has the No. 3 ranked Sport Shot in the nation (196), a ranking that includes all bowlers under the age of 21 over the most difficult lane conditions. She was recently named the Alberta Crowe Award winner, symbolic of the nation’s finest high school bowler.

In the classroom, Hamilton is a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society. She made her school’s high honor roll every grading period since sixth grade.

She was named to the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Dexter High School All-American team and was 18th at the 2007 Team USA Trials against the best adult bowlers in the nation.

Hamilton registered high finishes at the prestigious Junior Gold Tournament in both 2006 and 2007; is a two-time New York State scratch singles champion and a two-time New York state mixed team titlist.

She has recorded a total of 43, 700-series with a Rochester, N.Y. record 799 coming in 2006.
