LAX hosts Duke for Senior Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 13th-ranked Commodore women’s lacrosse team plays host to seventh-ranked Duke on Sunday, April 20, at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

Head Coach Cathy Swezey will honor the team’s seven seniors prior to the game’s opening draw, scheduled for 1 p.m. CT. Sasha Cielak, Margie Curran, Leslie Koch, Heather Koutrakos, Ashley Paschall, Brooke Shinaberry and Michele Slotke will all be playing their final regular season home games at Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt (11-4, 3-1 American Lacrosse Conference) is looking for its first 12-win regular season in school history on Sunday. The Commodores have won four straight games, including a 9-6 victory at No. 8 Notre Dame on Wednesday.

Shinaberry had 10 saves against the Irish, while sophomore Carter Foote contributed a hat-trick. Four Commodores have scored at least 25 goals this season, led by Curran’s 38 goals. The Moorestown, N.J., product is Vanderbilt’s career leader in both assists (73) and points (227).

Duke (9-5, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) is coming off an 18-11 victory at Virginia Tech on Monday. The Blue Devils hold a 3-2 advantage in games played in Nashville in the all-time series, which began in 1996.

Following Sunday’s contest, the Commodores will prepare for the 2008 ALC Tournament, which will be held at Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., May 2-4.
