NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman Rachel Dyer has been named to the Southeastern Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, as announced on Tuesday morning by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.
“I think this honor shows the well-rounded student athlete that Rachel is,” head swimming and diving coach Jeremy Organ said. “It shows that our student athletes want to be positive members of the school as well as the community. I think that bodes well for our swim team as well as the university and shows that our kids are trying to give something back to the community.”
Dyer, a freshman from Chattanooga, Tenn., is active with the Athletes Against Assault organization. She also participated in the CHAMPS/Life Skills Holiday Party, benefiting underprivileged children from Ross Elementary School.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Other members of the SEC Women’s Swimming and Diving Community Service Team include Madison Palmer (Arkansas), Lauren Groblewski (Georgia), Kelly Morrison (Kentucky), Lauren Simons (LSU), Mandee Creager (South Carolina) and Christine Magnuson (Tennessee).
