March 30, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rain has played havoc in Nashville this weekend causing a five-hour delay and an eventual suspension of Vanderbilt’s opening game with Arkansas Saturday at Hawkins Field.

The game is tied at 5-5 in the top of the 12th and was postponed as it eclipsed the midnight curfew.

The game will continue tomorrow at noon, followed by a single seven inning game per Southeastern Conference rules.

Friday’s original opening game between the two schools was postponed due to rain and Saturday’s game was stopped at 4:49 p.m. CT with the Razorbacks holding a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.

The game was restarted at 9:45 p.m. and the Commodores rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 5-5.

Because of SEC rules regarding travel, only two games will be played tomorrow and the third game of the series is cancelled and will not be made up.
