March 29, 2008

EVANSTON, Ill. — The 17th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team travels to face top-ranked Northwestern Sunday at Lakeside Field. The opening draw is scheduled for 12 Noon (CT).

The Commodores (7-3, 1-0 American Lacrosse Conference) opened conference play with a 10-7 victory at home against Penn State last weekend. Northwestern enters the match with a 9-0 record on the season and has won 30 consecutive games.

Vanderbilt is led by senior All-Americans Margie Curran and Sasha Cielak. A native of Sparks, Md., Cielak was named the ALC Player of the Week after a pair of impressive performances against Cornell and Penn State.

Sunday’s match will mark the seventh meeting between the two schools. The all-time series is even at three games apiece.

Following Sunday’s game, the Commodores continue conference play next weekend at Johns Hopkins before returning home to play host to Ohio State.
