NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt baseball will open a five-game homestand Tuesday against Belmont at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores captured both games against Belmont last season and have won the last five meetings dating back to 2003. VU owns a 40-9 series advantage all-time.
VU is 14-6 overall and 3-3 in Southeastern Conference play after dropping two of three to Alabama over the weekend. The Dores dropped to No. 9 in both the Rivals.com and Baseball America polls.
Belmont is 8-12 overall and 5-7 in the Atlantic Sun after losing two of three to Kennesaw State last Thursday and Friday. Junior outfielder/pitcher Carlos Testa leads the team with a .446 batting average with four doubles, three triples and 11 RBI. The Bruins are hitting .274 as a team with eight homers and 96 runs scored in 20 games (4.8 per game). Belmont has a team ERA of 5.22 with 140 strikeouts and 100 walks in 174.0 innings on the year.
Commodore junior Brett Jacobson (0-2, 9.49 ERA) will get the start tomorrow with the Bruins starter to be determined.
