NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Commodores men’s golf team travels to Tallahassee, Fla., this week to take part in Florida State’s Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club.
The three-day, 54-hole event begins on Sunday. Junior Jon Curran, senior Billy Whalen, sophomore Hudson Johnson and Chris Rockwell, and freshman Ben Klaus will represent Vanderbilt at the event.
The 12-team field includes six ranked squads, including a pair of Top 10 teams in Auburn and host Florida State. The Tigers rallied from a one-stroke deficit entering the final round and defeated North Carolina by five strokes to claim the team championship at the 2007 Seminole Intercollegiate.
Golden Eagle’s foremost attraction is its 18-hole golf course, designed by world renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. The course sprawls 7,041 yards from the back tees and was rated “the most challenging course in Florida” by the United States Golf Association just six months after opening in December 1986.
Vanderbilt is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, leaving from the first tee. The Commodores are grouped with UAB and the College of Charleston for the first 18 holes.
