WT: Ditty to Compete in Australian Open

MELBOURNE, Australia ­ Former Vanderbilt women’s tennis great Julie Ditty will open up play in the Australian Open on Sunday around 8 p.m. (CST) as she faces Australia’s Jessica Moore in the first round.

Ditty, who is competing in the main draw of a grand slam for the first time, is currently ranked 101st by the Women’s Tennis Association. Ditty has seen her ranking rise to as high as 91 in the past few months.

If Ditty wins her opening-round match, she will face either 17th seed Shahar Peer or Renata Voracova. Complete results from the Australian Open can be found at www.australianopen.com.
