Rain-Shortened Mason Rudolph Results

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the final two rounds of the 2007 Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, making day one leader Ole Miss the team champion of the event at the Vanderbilt Legends Club of Tennessee.

Teams played between two and 11 holes on Monday morning before play was suspended due to rain, and weather conditions in the area prevented the event from resuming on Tuesday.

The Rebels shot a one-under 283 on the par-71, 7,100-yard layout of the Roper’s Knob Course, one stroke better than rival Mississippi State’s even-par 284.

South Alabama placed third at two-over (286), with Vanderbilt and Louisville tying for fourth at three-over (287). Western Kentucky (290), UT-Chattanooga (291), Augusta State (292), Notre Dame (292) and North Florida (292) rounded out the Top 10.

A four-under 67 on Sunday gave individual medalist honors to Jake Amos of Augusta State. Amos birdied four of his final seven holes (12, 13, 14 and 18) to edge South Alabama’s Jack Hiluta (three-under 68) by one stroke.

Six players, including Commodore Brett Lange and Rebels Jonathan Randolph and Jesse Speirs, finished in third place at two-under (69). A total of 20 players in the field of 93 shot even-par or better.

Lange, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., closed with birdies on 17 and 18 to get to two-under. Junior Jon Curran finished in a tie for 21st place after carding a one-over 72. Sophomores Chris Rockwell and Hudson Johnson also scored for the Commodores, shooting of two-over 73’s. Freshman Adam Hofmann shot a seven-over 78.

Redshirt-freshman Craig Tallent, playing in his first collegiate event, led the Commodores’ “B” Team with a one-over 72.

The Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate concludes the Commodores’ fall season. Vanderbilt next plays on Feb. 17, 2008, at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.
