Taylor Continues Run into ITA Semifinals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Vanderbilt senior Amanda Taylor of Richland, Wash., won two matches on Monday as she advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 ITA National Summer Championships Presented by the USTA. Taylor defeated Keri Robison of Northwestern and Mykala Hedberg from conference-foe LSU to advance to the final four of the women’s singles draw where she will face Brooke Buck from Notre Dame.

Taylor, the second seed in the women’s singles draw, easily handled Hedberg in the first set of their quarterfinal match, winning 6-2. The second set was a see-saw battle which saw the Vanderbilt senior come out on top 7-6 to claim a straight-set win and punch her ticket to the semfinals.

In her opening match of the day, Taylor had an equally tough battle against Robison from Northwestern. She captured the first set 6-2, but Robison came back to win the second set 7-6. Taylor won the tiebreaking third set 1-0 (4).
