NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Tom Shaw has constructed a nine-event schedule for the 2007-08 season that reaches from the Commodores’ home course across the Pacific Ocean en route a hopeful return to the NCAA Championships.

Highlights of the schedule include the 2007 Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, hosted at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin (Oct. 21-23), and the Kauai Collegiate Cup in Princeville, Hawaii (March 16-17).

“This schedule is extremely competitive and we are excited about a few opportunities to branch out into new venues like Hawaii,” Shaw said. “The schedule features lots of Southeastern Conference and national Top-25 competition, especially during the fall.”

The 2008 Southeastern Conference Championships (April 18-20) will once again take place at Sea Island, Georgia, while NCAA Regional Championships (May 15-17) will be played in Chattanooga (Tennessee), Columbus (Ohio), and Bremerton (Washington). The 2007-08 season will culminate with the NCAA Championships (May 28-31) at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Coach Shaw’s Commodores open the 2007 fall season at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic in Dalton, Georgia (Sept. 14-16). The fall slate will be played close to home, moving from Georgia to Birmingham, Alabama for the Shoal Creek Invitational (Sept. 24-25).

Two events in Tennessee round out the team’s October plans. The Commodores head to Johnson City, Tennessee, to take on the The Ridges (Oct. 14-16) before heading home to play host to the Mason Rudolph.

After a short winter break, Vanderbilt takes two trips to the Sunshine State for the Mercedes-Benz Championship in Jacksonville (Feb. 17-19) and the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee (March 2-4).

Hawaii is the next stop for the Commodores, followed by two shorter trips to wrap up the regular season — one to Greenville, South Carolina, for the Furman Intercollegiate (March 28-30), and the other to Jackson, Mississippi, for The Reunion (April 6-8).

The Commodores placed fifth at the NCAA West Regional last season en route to making their first appearance at the NCAA Championships since 2004. Coach Shaw returns seven letterwinners from last year’s squad, including All-American Jon Curran.
