Earnest Sixth at Junior Gold

BUFFALO, NY — Vanderbilt sophomore-to-be Josie Earnest is in a tie for sixth place at the 2007 Junior Gold Bowling Championships after two days of competition. The Vandalia, Ill., product is averaging 203.33 after six games in the national event that concludes Friday.

Three other bowlers in the huge field of 499 have Vanderbilt ties. Incoming freshman Ellen Morrison of Winnebago, Ill., is in 33rd place with a 191 average in six games while another incoming freshman, Amanda Halter of Georgetown, Tex., is 45th at 188.42. Ashley Belden, another sophomore this fall, struggled during her first six games and is in the 313th position.

The top bowlers make the United States Junior Gold team, which Earnest has made twice previously.
