HOOVER, Ala. – In a season of firsts for Vanderbilt you can add Regional host to the list as the Commodores were awarded one of 16 sites today by the NCAA.

The Commodores are one of four Southeastern Conference teams to be named a regional host along with Arkansas, South Carolina and Ole Miss. Each site will have four teams that will be announced Monday morning.

By virtue of receiving the host selection, Vanderbilt is assured an at-large bid to the 64-team tournament, marking the sixth time in school history it has reached the postseason. It is the third time in five seasons under head coach Tim Corbin they have made regional play.

“It is the first time in Vanderbilt history that we have been able to put on an event like this,” said Corbin. “The kids have played extremely well all year and deserve something like this. It was a goal at the beginning of the season to play at home in trying to get to Omaha. We accomplished it and now we have got to take advantage of it.”

On Monday, the team will host a Viewing Party at the Holiday Inn Select in Nashville as the NCAA Tournament brackets are announced live on ESPN. The event is free and open to the public. ESPN will have a crew on hand at the event to profile the Commodores and will begin its broadcast at 11:30 a.m. CT. The doors of the Holiday Inn Select will open at 10 a.m. CT.

The Holiday Inn Select is located at 2613 West End Avenue.
