TEMPE Ariz. — The Commodore men’s golf team returns to the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, competing in the three-day West Regional at Arizona State’s Karsten Golf Course.

After missing the field in 2006, the Commodores are making their fourth appearance in post-season play in five seasons. First-year Head Coach Tom Shaw will bring one veteran and four tournament newcomers to the deserts of Arizona.

Senior Luke List, junior Billy Whalen, sophomores Jon Curran and Tyler Matthews, and freshman Hudson Johnson make up Vanderbilt five-man lineup. List has competed in the NCAA Regionals three times, including an appearance at the national championships in 2004.

The 141-player field includes 27 teams and six individual competitors. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played on ASU Karsten’s par-72, 7,057-yard layout.

The top 10 teams and top two individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA National Championships, May 30-June 2, at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia.
