PENSACOLA, Fla. – Former pupil of Vanderbilt Swim Coach Jeremy Organ and current All-American Jennifer Molchan will swim for the Commodores at the start of the 2007-08 season.

Molchan is a freestyle competitor who trained under Organ for two years at the Pensacola Aquatic Club. In 2006, Molchan earned All-American status for her second place finish at the Class 2A state meet.

Most recently, Molchan set GPAC records in the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle relay at the American Short Course Swimming Championships in early February.

“I am very excited that Jennifer is joining our squad,” Organ said. “She is going to be expected to make an immediate impact as both a leader and a competitor.”

Molchan’s accomplishments created a national buzz for the Pensacola, Fla. native. She turned down opportunities from Duke, Louisville and Kentucky.

“I went up there [VU] and kind of fell in love with it,” Molchan told WEAR-TV in Pensacola. “I saw how much everyone really wanted to have a great swim team and I wanted to be a part of it.” Molchan will join other All-American signees Rachel Dyer (Chattanooga,Tenn.) and Leigh-Ann Axt (Kingwood, Texas) on the 2007-08 squad.
