NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis team members Taka Bertrand, Amanda Fish, Catherine Newman and Amanda Taylor were voted to the All-SEC team, as decided by conference coaches Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Amanda Fish is at the top of the Commodore lineup in singles as well as doubles with partner Amanda Taylor. Fish finished the regular season with a 7-4 conference singles mark, which included an upset over then-18th-ranked Diana Srebrovic of No. 3 Florida.

Fish and Taylor finished 8-3 in SEC doubles, playing exclusively at No. 1. The duo’s largest upset was over then-14th-ranked Darya Ivanov/Yvette Hyndman of No. 4 Georgia.

Junior Amanda Taylor has had a breakthrough year with the Commodore squad. In 2006 Taylor finished 9-2 in conference singles, playing at No. 3. This season, Taylor finished 10-1 at No. 2, allowing her to a achieve a solid Top 40 ranking with the ITA through most of the season.

Catherine Newman is Vanderbilt’s only freshman starter and has helped anchor the team with a sold 9-2 singles record at No. 3. After a sensational fall season (13-2), including a win over 2007 SEC Freshman of the Year Yvette Hyndman and fourth-ranked Jenna Long of No. 10 North Carolina, Newman started the 2007 dual match season as Vanderbilt’s highest ranked player.

Newman and doubles partner Bertrand posted a 9-2 record for the regular conference season.

2007 is Bertrand’s seventh consecutive year to earn SEC accolades. In 2005, she earned Freshman of the Year honors and followed with the 2006 Player of the Year award. Bertrand finished the 2007 SEC season with a 10-1 mark at No. 4 and leads the team in combined doubles/singles wins.

The Commodores will begin the SEC Tournament on Friday, April 20 in Lexington, Ky.
