Vanderbilt basketball fans are encouraged to “Band Together” during March Madness while following the Commodore men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Taking a cue from the headbands worn throughout the season by point guard Dee Davis on the women’s team and point guard Alex Gordon and wing players Derrick Byars and Shan Foster on the men’s team, Vanderbilt officials hope fans don headbands and wear white as a show of support for the Commodore teams.
School officials will be distributing special headbands throughout the cheering sections, on campus and in the community during the next several weeks, beginning at the Southeastern Conference Men’s Tournament this Friday.
“We want to give our students, administration, fans, and the Nashville community a fun and tangible way to show their support for the Commodores during postseason play,” said Director of Marketing Eric Nichols. “Our women’s team has already kick-started our March Madness efforts by winning the SEC Tournament and we hope to build on that momentum.”
All Commodore fans should wear white Vanderbilt shirts and head bands that will be distributed in every venue Vanderbilt’s men and women squads play during the NCAA Tournament. Even fans not able to attend the games in person are encouraged to “band together” in white shirts and headbands during Vanderbilt’s tournament run.
