NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 17th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (18-9, 8-5 Southeastern Conference) play host to Kentucky (19-8, 8-5 SEC) in a key SEC Eastern Division match-up Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium. The game tips at 1 p.m. CT and will be televised by Lincoln Financial Sports.
Vanderbilt and Kentucky enter the weekend one game ahead of Georgia and Tennessee in the race for the division’s No. 2 seed, and first-round bye, in the upcoming SEC Tournament, March 8-11 in Atlanta.
The Commodores are 6-0 at home during SEC play and have won 12 consecutive games at Memorial Gymnasium — the longest streak under eighth-year head coach Kevin Stallings. A win Sunday would mark the 650th victory all-time at Memorial Gymnasium and secure Vanderbilt’s first winning record in SEC play since 1997.
Vanderbilt is coming off an 83-70 setback against surging Mississippi State Wednesday in Starkville. Dan Cage led all Commodores with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Kentucky last played on Tuesday, defeating LSU 70-63 at Rupp Arena. Randolph Morris tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Kentucky leads the overall series 128-39 and 47-22 in Nashville. However, Vanderbilt has won the last three meetings, including a 72-67 decision in Lexington on Jan. 20.
