NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team plays host to a crucial Southeastern Conference contest as South Carolina visits Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. CT.
Single-game tickets are still available, and fans who bring a children’s book to donate to the Charles Davis Foundation will receive one free admission to the contest.
Only two chances remain to see the 12th-ranked Commodores play at Memorial Gym this season, as Vanderbilt’s 2007 Senior Day is set for this Thursday’s matchup with LSU.
Vanderbilt has won its last five games against South Carolina. The Commodores defeated the Gamecocks, 67-66, on Jan. 11 in Columbia, as VU senior Dee Davis sank a pair of free throws with 20 seconds remaining. Senior Carla Thomas scored a game-high 26 points, her highest total of the 2007 SEC slate.
Thomas and Davis are both members of Vanderbilt’s 1,000-point club, while fellow senior Caroline Williams continues her push to reach the milestone. Williams posted a career-high 24 points at Mississippi State on Thursday and currently stands with 925 career points.
Vanderbilt remains the No. 1 three-point shooting team in the nation (43.0 percent) this week, a distinction the Commodores have held since a Jan. 21 contest against Georgia Tech. Williams ranks first in the SEC and second in the nation in long-range accuracy, connecting on 48.7 percent of her three-point attempts.
