Vanderbilt’s bowling team resumes competition this weekend at the Morgan State University Invitational. The field of 24 teams represents one of the largest tournaments of the year and includes most of the nation’s Top 10.
The Commodores, still ranked No. 2 nationally in the recent coaches’ poll, have spent considerable practice time polishing up their fundamentals since their fourth place finish at the Arkansas State Invitational two weeks ago.
“We have had a good two weeks of practice,” Coach John Williamson says. “We worked on technique, particularly with our spare conversions. I am confident we will be relaxed, better focused and prepared to compete in this fine event.”
There will be five team games Saturday with play beginning at 11:15 a.m. Sunday there will be five Baker games (four-game matches based on total pins) starting at 9:00 a.m.
The participating teams include: Arkansas State, Adelphi, Central Missouri, Coppin State, Cheyney, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fayetteville State, Florida A & M, Grambling, Hampton, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Nebraska, New Jersey City, Norfolk State, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Saint Peters, South Carolina State, Southern, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Vanderbilt.
