LEXINGTON, Kent. – Freshman Erika Walston became the first Commodore in sixteen years to compete in the SEC Diving Tournament when she participated in the 1-meter and 3-meter preliminaries over the weekend at the University of Kentucky.
Walston finished Saturday’s prelims with 152.5 points in the 1-meter dive, just shy of Tennessee’s Staley McCartney. The score wasn’t enough to advance the Commodore freshman, but was a 22-point improvement over her last 1-meter dive against Louisville.
At the 3-meter event Friday, Walston bettered her previous score by 39 points, to finish the morning with a 165 total.
The rest of the Commodore swim team will travel to Lexington this Thursday to compete in the swimming portion of the tournament.
