Tickets Still Available to Wednesday’s Matchup with #10 Alabama
Vanderbilt plays its second consecutive home game against a ranked opponent Wednesday with the Commodores welcome No. 10 Alabama to Memorial Gymnasium. The game tips at 7 p.m. It will not be televised.
Vanderbilt (11-6, 1-2 Southeastern Conference) has won two of its three home games against nationally ranked opponents this season with victories over No. 16 Tennessee (82-81) on Jan. 10 and No. 25 Georgia Tech (73-64) on Dec. 9. The Commodores suffered an 86-70 loss to No. 8 Georgetown in the season opener on Nov. 15.
The Commodores are coming off an 85-73 setback at Georgia on Saturday. Derrick Byars tied for game-high honors with a team-best 23 points against the Bulldogs. Byars was 8-of-16 from the field, including five 3-pointers. Dan Cage reached double figures in scoring for the eighth consecutive game with 17 points and five 3-pointers.
Alabama (14-2, 1-1 SEC) has not played since topping LSU 71-61 on Jan. 9. Richard Hendrix scored a team-best 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Jermareo Davidson posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Alabama won last year’s meeting 77-74 in overtime on Feb. 8. The Crimson Tide lead the overall series 63-60. However, Vanderbilt owns a 37-18 advantage in Nashville.
