Vanderbilt returns to Memorial Gymnasium Saturday when the Commodores play host to Elon at 7 p.m. The game will not be televised.
The Commodores (0-2) look for their first win of the season after suffering their second consecutive loss Tuesday at Wake Forest, 88-78. Shan Foster scored a game-high 23 points and fellow wing player Derrick Byars posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the defeat. Alex Gordon scored 15 points for the second consecutive game. Byars leads Vanderbilt through two games, averaging 16 points and seven rebounds.
Elon (1-2) also suffered a loss the Wake Forest in its last outing, 73-48, in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Nov. 17. The Phoenix are looking for their first road win of the season, having dropped an 83-49 decision at Georgia Tech to open the year on Nov. 10. Elon defeated Montreat, 85-72, at home on Nov. 14 for its lone win.
Saturday’s game marks the first meeting between the two schools in series history. Vanderbilt is 38-4 all-time against the Southern Conference.
