Vanderbilt travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. Tuesday to battle Atlantic Coast Conference member Wake Forest. The game will be televised by FSN South at 8 p.m. CT.
The Commodores (0-1) are coming off an 86-70 home loss to eighth-ranked Georgetown in Vanderbilt’s season opener on Nov. 15. Guard Alex Gordon came off the bench to lead Vanderbilt with 15 points. Derrick Byars added 14 points while Ross Neltner contributed nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Wake Forest (3-0) pulled away from Elon, 73-48, on Friday as three Demon Deacons reached double figures in scoring. Center Kyle Visser led the cause with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Today’s contest marks the first meeting between the schools since Wake Forest defeated Vanderbilt 83-68 in the first round of the 2000 postseason NIT in Nashville on March 14. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 4-3.
Today’s match-up is the first of two games to be played on the hardwood between the schools. Wake Forest is scheduled to return to Nashville next season. Vanderbilt and Wake Forest also recently agreed to a seven-game series in football beginning in 2007.
