VU, 104.5 The Zone Announce $104 Ticket Special

10/15/2006

Commodore fans can get tickets to the team’s last three home football games and an important early-season men’s basketball game at a special discounted price, thanks to a sales promotion sponsored by 104.5  The Zone, Vanderbilt’s flagship radio station.

For $104, Vanderbilt fans can get tickets to the Commodores’ key Southeastern Conference home games against South Carolina on Oct. 21, Florida on Nov. 4 and Tennessee on Nov. 18, and the Commodore men’s basketball encounter with nationally ranked Georgetown on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Memorial Gym.

The $104 price is $46 off the regular price for the four premier Commodore sporting events, Vanderbilt athletic marketing director Eric Nichols said. Due to limited supplies of individual game tickets, Vanderbilt athletics will sell only 1,045 packages at the $104 price.

“Our flagship radio station knows the importance of these four events to our athletic success and I’m very pleased that they stepped forward and wanted to promote this package,” Nichols said.

“You’re talking about a quality ticket package. You have three outstanding SEC teams with Steve Spurrier and South Carolina, Urban Meyer’s Florida Gators and, of course, the cross-state Volunteers who are playing extremely well this season. The basketball game is an outstanding home opener for the Commodores, with several preseason magazines including the Hoyas as a Top 10 contender,” Nichols added.

As part of the promotion, 104.5 The Zone plans to broadcast its popular “Sports Zone” show from the Commodore football practice facilities Tuesday afternoon. Co-hosts George Plaster, Willy Daunic and Darren McFarland will interview several Commodore coaches and athletic officials during the three-hour program, which continues to achieve Nashville’s highest sports radio ratings.
