Head Coach Bobby Johnson:
“We were very pleased to win. I saw some good things. Sometimes we went a little haywire and allowed some things we shouldn’t have. But I was glad we recovered from the play at the end of the first half.”
“We got to play a lot of people. We had some guys on defense that had never played before. There’s a big difference from being on the practice field and in the game. You don’t have anyone out there telling you where to go and what to do. They have to decide on their own. It’s a learning experience.”

“Chris had some throws where he misfired, but he also had some throws with a lot of zip on them. I thought he played well and put us in a position to win.”
Offensive Tackle Chris Williams:
“It’s great to win two games in a row. Winning five in a row would have been good too. Our offensive play is starting to click. We’re starting to find our niche and running right at people.”
On the depth of the offensive line:
“It helps a lot to have some depth. We can have a break if we need one. In the past, if you needed a break, you couldn’t because you had to stay in the game. Now, we can go harder because, if we need to, we can get off the field.”
Defensive Tackle Theo Horrocks:
“This win was huge for us. It’s hard to start off 0-3, but you win back-to-back games and it gives you a lot of confidence. We had to come out and score a lot of points to make sure everyone is playing on the same page heading into SEC play.”
Running Back Cassen Jackson-Garrison:
“Our offensive line players are beasts. That’s what we call them. That’s how they play.”
On Vanderbilt’s Progression:
“Ever since the first game, we’ve gotten better. Each week we get a lot better. I feel great. I couldn’t feel any better right now. Hopefully I can remain healthy.”
Quarterback Chris Nickson:
“Every time you go out, you want to complete 100 percent of your passes. I was a little off tonight, but I regained my confidence in the second half.”
On his improvement:
“I definitely feel like I have come along in the past few weeks. Everyone has their bad days. I was a little inaccurate in the beginning, but I settled down from there.”
