Concolino Tied for Third at NCAA Fall Preview

Vanderbilt sophomore Jacqui Concolino posted a 3-over par 75 Saturday and is three shots behind tournament leader Nicole Smith of Tennessee after second round play at the NCAA Women’s Golf Fall Preview in Daytona Beach Florida. The three-day event is taking place at the LPGA International Legends Course (Par 72, 6,315 yards).

Concolino (70+75=145) found herself 5-over par after the first 10 holes, but chipped away with birdies on Nos. 11 and 16 to finish tied with three other players for third. Smith (67+75=142) kept her first-place standing with a 3-over par 75. Leah Wigger of Virginia is second at 71+73=144.

The 19th-ranked Commodores shot a 9-over par 297 on Saturday to slip to seventh overall. Second ranked Georgia remains in first at 289+295=584. Auburn (298+290=594) remains in striking distance, four shots behind the Bulldogs. Top ranked Duke carded the best team round of the day with an even par 288 to climb into third (306+298=598). The competitive 18-team field includes 12 ranked squads.

Vanderbilt senior Chris Brady posted the top round of the day for the Commodores. Brady’s even par 72 moved her into a tie for 25th position at 77+72=149. Junior Liebelei Lawrence (78+73=151) also climbed the standings into a tie for 33rd after a 1-over par 73. Brooke Goodwin finished tied for 48th at 77+77=154. A triple bogie on No. 15 prevented a better score from the freshman. Senior Kristen Svicarovich is tied for 53rd, one shot behind Goodwin at 78+77=155.
