Dennis Named SEC Offensive Player of Week 9/18/2006 NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Junior forward Sarah Dennis was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Commodores to a pair of wins over the weekend at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. Dennis scored the game-winning goal in double overtime against Middle Tennessee on Sunday and also assisted on two of the team’s other three goals in the Commodores 4-3 win. The Germantown, Tenn., native also assisted on the game-winning goal in last Friday’s 2-0 win over UAB. This is the second straight week a Commodore has picked up a conference honor, as Tyler Griffin garnered SEC Defensive plaudits last week. This is the second time Dennis has received the award in her career and first this season. Vanderbilt (4-1-3) has gone undefeated in the last five games at 4-0-1 and open SEC play on the road this weekend. They will face LSU on Friday at 7 p.m., and will then take on Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. before returning home for a season long four-game homestand. |
