Aiming to Please

Our football home opener is Saturday and the very thought brings different emotions to different groups.

We hope fans are looking forward to an enjoyable day on campus, renewing acquaintances and watching a great game.

For the support staff serving as hosts, opening a season is like throwing a large party. You worry that guests will like the food you offer and the activities you plan. You consider the background music. You double-check the forecast. You dust in those places that you sometimes skip.

If there is one word that gets repeated in McGugin Center, it is service.  Some of you may have just choked on your Starbucks but that is the truth. We want to serve Vanderbilt friends and family in a first-class fashion. We want fans to have a great experience, from when they buy their tickets to when they exit the campus after the game.

We have our challenges in accomplishing that objective and are aware that we’ve occasionally fallen short of that goal. We try not to confuse effort with results.

We have a largely new ticket office staff since last season, hired in part for their people skills and their commitment to customer service. Our game operations staff has been working overtime. The stadium is spic and span.

The Razorbacks are coming, the Commodores will be ready and we anticipate a great afternoon of SEC football.  We hope you’ll have a terrific time.

SEC Sampler

Have you heard about our new ticket plan, the SEC Sampler?  It’s the brainchild of our ticket staff and is designed for the person or family that just doesn’t have the time or perhaps the commitment to purchase season tickets.

The SEC Sampler plan allows the buyer to select one football game, two basketball games (men’s or women’s) and one baseball game. The only exceptions are the Tennessee football and men’s basketball games and the Kentucky men’s basketball game which typically are sold out. All other home games are available, which makes it attractive. You choose what games you want to see.

The cost for the SEC Sampler is just $85, a potential savings of up to 20% depending upon which games you select. On top of that, you’ll receive a free hot dog and drink at every game.
