Vanderbilt Football Game Times Announced 8/3/2006 Nashville, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt Commodores will open the season with three consecutive televised day games, then host a pair of non-Southeastern Conference opponents at night, the university announced today. In announcing kickoff times for games through September, Bobby Johnson’s Commodore squad will open at Michigan on Sept. 2 before an ESPN national audience, then make its first appearance ever on FOX Sports South in Tuscaloosa, Ala., against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 9. Kickoff for the Michigan and Alabama games are 11:00 a.m. CT and 2:30 p.m. CT, respectively. On Sept. 16, Vanderbilt hosts Arkansas in its home opener, with kickoff slated for 11:30 a.m. The Vanderbilt-Arkansas game will be televised across the Southeast by Lincoln Financial Sports, the SEC broadcast partner formerly known as Jefferson Pilot Sports. After playing Arkansas, the Commodores will host cross-town Tennessee State and Temple in Vanderbilt Stadium. Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. for both the TSU and Temple games. Kickoff times for the final three Commodore home games — homecoming against South Carolina on Oct. 21, Florida on Nov. 4 and Tennessee on Nov. 18 — will be announced at least two weeks prior to the games, due to the possibility of television. If those games are not televised, kickoff for the South Carolina contest will be 2:00 p.m. CT, with the Florida and Tennessee games likely to start at 1:00 p.m. CT. The Commodores will open with three straight television appearances for the first time in team history. In 1996, the squad’s first two games were televised — Notre Dame on ESPN and Alabama on ESPN2. Last year, Vanderbilt went 3-3 in six TV appearances, going 2-0 on JP Sports (Ole Miss and Tennessee), 1-0 on ESPNU (Wake Forest), and 0-3 on ESPN2 (LSU, Georgia and Florida). Vanderbilt season ticket packages, the least expensive in the SEC, are available, starting at $80 per person. Single-game tickets also are available at the team’s official website, or by phone at (615) 322-GOLD or 1-877-44-VANDY. Click here to order your tickets online!
