Former Pitcher Sowers Expected to Start Sunday for Cleveland

Former Vanderbilt pitcher Jeremy Sowers is expected to be called up from the AAA Buffalo Bisons this weekend to be added to the starting rotation for MLB’s Cleveland Indians.

Sowers made his 15th start for Buffalo Tuesday night, going into the game with an 8-1 record and an impressive 1.27 ERA in 14 starts.

It is expected that a position player will be optioned down to make room for Sowers on the 40-man roster. Sowers’ transaction is one of several the Indians were planning including adding utility infielder Joe Inglett for bench depth and adding pitcher Ed Mujica to the roster as well.
