List Struggles In Opening Round of NCAAs 5/19/2006 ORLANDO, Fla. — Vanderbilt junior Luke List ended the first day of the NCAA East Regional at the Lake Nona Golf Club Thursday at six-over-par in a 10-way tie for 99th place. List began his opening round at 1:30 p.m. on the 10th hole of the course’s par-72, 7,215-yard layout. The Ringgold, Ga., native went six-over on the back nine, including two double bogeys, before gaining control on the back nine. The first-team All-Southeastern Conference honoree birdied the hole No. 1, and would shoot even par over his final nine holes. North Carolina senior Jonathan Jackson shot a first-round 6-under-par 66 to take a one-stroke lead over the field of 141. He posted a 6-under-par 30 on the front nine (his back nine), after an even-par first nine holes. Top-seeded Georgia posted a 4-under-par team score of 284 to take a one-shot lead over Wake Forest after the opening round The tournament at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club was played under sunny, but windy conditions. Three teams broke par and 14 players among the field finished under par. Friday’s second round tee times begin at 7 a.m. ET. The top-10 squads in the 27-team field, plus two individuals not on those teams, advance to the NCAA Championship, which begins May 31 in Sunriver, Ore.
