| Food Drive to Be Held During Kentucky Series
4/27/2006 Vanderbilt Athletics will be sponsoring a food drive benefitting the Second Harvest Food Bank in rendering aid to those affected by the recent tornados in Middle Tennessee. Donation boxes will be placed at Hawkins Field this weekend for the Baseball team’s series versus the University of Kentucky. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items such as canned fruit, peanut butter, canned meats and macaroni and cheese. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive of over 200 food banks and food distribution centers nationwide. In 2004, Second Harvest distributed more than 14.5 million pounds of food to hungry hungry men, women, and children. In Middle Tennessee alone, 47% of the people Second Harvest serves are children.
