Men’s Golf in 7th After Day One 4/21/2006
ST. SIMON?S ISLAND, Ga. Junior Luke List stands in a four-way tie for second place, one stroke behind the lead, after carding a two-under-par 68 on the first day of the 2006 Southeastern Conference Championship at Sea As a team, the Vanderbilt men shot a 10-over 290 for the day and are tied for seventh place with Ole Miss. Georgia holds the team lead after 18 holes, shooting a combined score of four-under (276). Alabama (E), Florida (+5), Tennessee (+6) and Louisiana State (+8) round out the top five. Individually, Bulldog Brian Harman holds a one-stroke lead over teammate Chris Kirk, List, Florida?s Brett Stegmaier and Alabama?s Matthew Swan. A total of 11 players are at even par or better, all within three strokes of the leader. At the turn, the Commodores stood at plus-two, but the back nine proved less forgiving. List was the only Commodore to come in under par after birdies on holes 15 and 17. Freshman Jon Curran posted a two-over 72 on the day, carding birdies on two of his final three holes. Curran stands in a tie for 19th after Day One. Sophomore Brett Lange was running at one-under until the final three holes. Double bogeys on 16 and 18 inflated his score to plus-three.
