NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 8 Commodores (19-3, 9-1) will host their final regular season match against No. 23 Kentucky (8-2, 15-7) on Saturday.

The Wildcats fall right behind Vanderbilt in the SEC East, ranking third in the division. The Wildcats boast two SEC Players of the Week, senior Danielle Petrisko and freshman Carolina Escamilla. Escamilla took her tenth straight win against South Carolina, and clinched the match for the Wildcats (5-2).

The ‘Dores split last weekend, falling 5-2 against No. 3 Florida and downing South Carolina 5-2. Following their doubles win at Florida, VU’s freshman doubles team of Courtney Ulery and Liberty Sveke moved up in the lineup in the South Carolina contest, playing at No. 2 for only the second time in 2006. With their Gamecock victory, the tandem improved their record to 13-3, 9-0.

Vanderbilt’s two-time SEC Player of the Week, sophomore Taka Bertrand, upset the Gators’ third ranked Diana Sreborvic (6-3, 2-6, 6-3) at No. 2 singles last Friday. Bertrand followed up with a second weekend singles win against South Carolina, improving her record to 19-1, 10-0.

“We have historically had some great, competitive matches with Kentucky,” VU Head Coach Geoff Macdonald said. “I know it will be a great contest.”

The ‘Dores final regular season match is set to start at high noon on Saturday, April 15 at the Currey Tennis Center.
