Vanderbilt plays host to the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championship, April 14-16, at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin. The three-day event takes place on the 6,217-yard, Par 72, Ironhorse Course.

A collection of the some of the most talents golfers in the nation, the tournament features 10 of the top 30 rated collegiate women’s players in the country and six of the Top 20 teams according to the latest GOLFWEEK women’s rakings.

The hosting Commodores are listed 15th in the ranking and are led by freshman Jacqui Concolino (No. 14) and junior Chris Brady (No. 24). Concolino, who has a 73.28 stroke average, has earned medalist honors at two tournaments this spring including the Arizona Wildcat Invitational (Feb. 20-21) and the LSU-Cleveland Golf Classic (March 3-5). Brady has finished in the Top 10 in four tournaments this season, including each of the last three. She enters the tournament with a 73.72 stroke average.

“We’ve played hard in every round this season, even though we haven’t put together a whole tournament.” Vanderbilt Head Coach Martha Richards Freitag said. “We need to step up and play well the entire weekend. We have to go compete against the golf course, stay composed and patient, and meet the challenge.”

First round action begins on Friday at 8:30 a.m. with teams teeing off from both the first and 10th tees. Vanderbilt players will start at No. 10 beginning at 9:19 a.m.

Vanderbilt won the tournament in 2004 in Baton Rouge, La. The Commodores are one of six league schools to have won the title. Georgia leads all SEC teams with 10 conference championships. Auburn edged Georgia in a playoff for last season’s crown.
