The sophomore picks up the honor for the third time this season. NASHVILLE – Sophomore southpaw David Price continued his string of picking up weekly honors today by being named Collegiate Baseball’s National Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Price was also named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third straight week and for the fourth time this season. The Murfreesboro product recorded a career high 17 strikeouts in the Commodores 7-1 win over No. 12 Arkansas last Friday. He allowed just three hits and gave up one run in eight innings of work to improve to 5-2 on the year and 4-0 in SEC action. Price has recorded double-digit strikeout games in his last six starts and now has 97 strikeouts in 59.2 innings this season and opponents are hitting just .156 against him. The Commodores are ranked No. 16 in Collegiate Baseball this week and No. 18 in Baseball America. They have midweek games against Western Kentucky and at Lipscomb this week, before hosting Georgia this weekend at Hawkins Field. |
