Women’s Tennis Back on Track with Win over USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Commodores improved their SEC record to 9-1 after downing South Carolina 5-2 in Columbia on Sunday.

After VU tandems Ferrell/Taylor and Ulery/Sveke notched the doubles point, Taka Bertrand, Amanda Taylor, and Maggie Yahner took straight set wins in singles to secure the Commodore victory.

Freshman Courtney Ulery recovered after her 4-6 loss in the first set to take the win at No. 4 6-4, 6-3 in the final two sets to take the ‘Dores up 5-1.

Amanda Fish fell to Gira Schofield after downing the Lady Gamecock in a first set tie-breaker (9), but falling 1-6 in the second set. Fish and Schofield battled the final point of the night in a super-tiebreaker, where Schofield
took the win 10-5.

The Commodores will play their final regular season home match on Saturday in Nashville, followed by the SEC tournament on April 20 in Gainesville.
