4/4/2006 MIAMI, Fla. – Former Commodore Aleke Tsoubanos was drafted by the St. Louis Aces in the Pro League World TennisTeam Draft this week in Miami. Under Head Coach Geoff Macdonald, Tsoubanos became a two-time All-American and went 88-26 in singles and 118-25 in doubles with the Commodores. Tsoubanos received the most attention for her doubles work, where she ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation with partner Sarah Riske. Her senior year, Tsoubanos found more doubles success with partner Audra Falk; the pair still holds the team record for longest consecutive doubles winning streak (15 matches). Tsoubanos also holds the Commodore record for best doubles percentage (82). The World TeamTennis Pro League, the brainchild of Billy Jean King and Larry King, is a co-ed league that began in 1975. Each WTT team consists of two men, two women, and a coach. Matches feature singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and co-ed doubles. The league is made up of 12 teams, divided into east and west conferences. WTT’s biggest claim to fame is the introduction of the Supertiebreaker, no- ad scoring, on-court coaching, player names on shirt backs, and co-ed teams.
