Commodores Break Into Baseball America Rankings NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore lefthander David Price picked up his second straight Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week award for his performance against Florida over the weekend. Price continued his remarkable run in SEC play throwing eight shutout innings in the Commodores 6-0 win over the then No. 15 Gators on Friday night. He struck out 13 while giving up five hits with no walks. The Murfreesboro product has not given up a run in his last 19.1 innings pitched. In SEC play alone he is 3-0 with 34 strikeouts and just four walks in 24.0 innings. Overall he is 4-2 with a 1.78 ERA and has 78 strikeouts in 50.2 innings this year. It is the third time in four weeks that Price has earned the conference award. In addition to the weekly award, the team also broke into Baseball America’s weekly Top 25 at No. 16 this week. The Commodores also moved up to No. 12 in Collegiate Baseball after being ranked No. 17 last week. Vanderbilt will close out its five-game road swing against Austin Peay on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Clarksville. The Commodores will then host No. 12 Arkansas in a three-game SEC series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Field. |
