No. 12 Commodores Host No. 2 Notre Dame 3/28/2006 NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Commodores will look to end Notre Dame’s 16 game winning streak at the Currey Tennis Center on Wednesday at 2:30. No. 2 Notre Dame (16-0) recently downed historic rival No. 5 Duke (4-3) in Orlando, Florida. In the contest, Notre Dame’s No. 32 Catrina Thompson upset the Blue Devil’s No. 1 Daniela Bereck at No. 1 singles. Irish Head Coach Jay Louderback is in his 17th season with the ND and recently received his 500th career win when the team defeated Texas A&M March 18. “We are really excited to be playing such a great team,” VU Head Coach Geoff Macdonald said. “Even though we’re in the midst of SEC season, we love to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the country.” The Commodores (15-2, 6-0) are entering the contest following their 6-0 sweep of the SEC West. The ‘Dores have only dropped two contests this season, to No. 14 Georgia Tech (7-0) and No. 23 Texas Christian (4-3) at the ITA Team Indoors tournament. The match is set to begin at 2:30, and free hotdogs will be provided (while supplies last) to fans. |
