Women’s Netters Head to Dixie

OXFORD, Miss. — The No. 12 Commodores will look to continue their perfect SEC record as they take on No. 52 Ole Miss and Mississippi State this weekend.

The Commodores (13-2, 4-0) took a break from conference action last Friday to host No. 11 Texas. The ‘Dores downed the ‘Horns (5-2), with wins by Amanda Fish at No. 1 singles, Taka Bertrand at No. 2, Amanda Taylor at No. 3, and Caroline Ferrell at No. 5.

The ‘Dores also changed up their doubles line-up, with Caroline Ferrell playing only her fourth doubles contest of 2006. The sophomore paired up with Taka Bertrand at No. 3, while Taylor and Fish teamed up at No. 1.

Ole Miss (7-4, 1-3) is led by undefeated freshman Kseniia Tokarieva (11-0). Tokarieva also leads the team in doubles play with partner Nika Koukhartchouk. The tandem is 10-1 at No. 2.

When Mississippi State (3-8, 1-3) last took the courts for SEC play, the Bulldogs defeated Auburn (6-1), but were unable to top Alabama (5-2).

The Ole Miss contest will begin at 3 p.m. in Oxford on Friday, and the M State contest will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Starkville, Miss.
